License My Company Data

Can our NetSuite history be licensed to AI companies, and how do we get it out?

Updated October 25, 2026 · How we research

Possibly, if the company holds the rights and removes customer, employee and banking details first. Oracle's NetSuite documentation describes a Full CSV Export (CSV is a plain spreadsheet format) available only to the Administrator role, plus CSV exports from saved searches and reports. Some buyers instead connect with read-only access.

What lives in NetSuite, and why is it valuable?

NetSuite is an ERP (enterprise resource planning system): one system for accounting, orders, inventory, purchasing, and often CRM (customer relationship management software). It holds customers, vendors, items, transactions, notes, and tasks, all linked together.

Buyers building tools for finance, operations, and supply chain may value how real orders, purchases, and inventory moves connect over time. The links between records, such as an order tied to its shipments and invoices, are a large part of the value.

How does a NetSuite export work?

As of October 2026, Oracle's NetSuite help describes several ways to extract data:

  • Full CSV Export (Setup, Import/Export, Export Tasks): produces a zip of CSV files. Oracle says only users with the Administrator role can run it, and it covers a set list of records rather than everything.
  • Saved search and report exports to CSV, for specific record types.
  • SuiteTalk web services, for programmatic queries.
  • SuiteAnalytics Connect, which links outside tools to NetSuite through standard database drivers (ODBC, JDBC or ADO.NET). Oracle notes ODBC access is an extra service with a fee.

Who has to run it?

For a full export, an Administrator. Oracle also advises exporting each record's Internal ID so links between records are kept. Large exports can time out; Oracle suggests exporting smaller sets from individual lists if that happens. A NetSuite admin or partner should scope the export to the agreed record types and dates.

Does a buyer need files?

Some buyer programs connect to NetSuite directly, usually under a dedicated integration role, instead of receiving CSV files. Make that role read-only and limit it to the record types and subsidiaries in the license. Ask where copied records are stored and how they are deleted, and disable the role when the project ends.

What should stay out?

  • Employee records, payroll, and compensation.
  • Bank details, card data, and tax ID numbers.
  • Customer and vendor contact details, unless de-identified.
  • Pricing and terms covered by customer or supplier confidentiality clauses.
  • Attached files such as contracts and IDs.

What rights questions apply?

NetSuite often holds several subsidiaries, plus customer, vendor and employee records, all linked together. Most software agreements let you export your own data, but privacy laws, customer and supplier contracts, and confidentiality duties can limit licensing, and each subsidiary may have its own agreements. Financial data can also raise tax and disclosure questions. Talk to your lawyer and your accountant before you share anything.

Where should you start with NetSuite data?

Ask your NetSuite administrator or partner which record types, subsidiaries and custom records you use, and how far back clean data goes after any migration. Decide early whether Internal IDs will be kept so records can be linked. If you run several subsidiaries, check rights for each one; see Does your company actually own the data it wants to license?.

Common questions

Does Full CSV Export include everything?

No. Oracle says it covers a listed set of records, and anything not on the list is not included.

Who can run Full CSV Export?

Oracle's documentation says only users with the Administrator role.

Is there an extra cost for database-style access?

Oracle notes that ODBC access through SuiteAnalytics Connect is an additional service with a fee.

Why keep Internal IDs?

Oracle recommends it so related records can be linked back together after export.
