What AI data buyers publish they pay
Most buyer programs that pay companies for internal records publish a range, often from about $100K into the low millions for an established company. These are the buyers' own figures, labelled by them as typical, indicative or illustrative, and none is an offer.

How to read these ranges
- They are marketing figures. Buyers set them; a range tells you what a buyer is willing to say in public, not what you will be offered.
- Labels matter. "Illustrative" and "indicative" mean examples. Some ranges are per period or per delivery rather than a total; the buyer profile says so where it is stated.
- Size and depth drive the number. Headcount, years of history, how many systems hold the work, and how complete those records are.
- Terms change the value. Exclusive deals, revenue shares and payment timing make two equal headline numbers worth different amounts. See comparing offers.
Worked examples
Illustrative only. Not offers, not predictions, and not based on any real company.
| Company | What it has | Where it sits against published ranges |
|---|---|---|
| 35-person accounting firm, 8 years | Email, a practice-management system, QuickBooks. Client files excluded. | Meets most size floors; the firm-operations records left after exclusions are narrower, which tends to point to the lower part of published ranges. |
| 120-person 3PL, 12 years | Teams, a WMS, ticketing, ERP, years of exception handling. Client data held under contract excluded unless permitted. | Several systems and long history; rights in customer data are the main limit on scope. |
| 400-person distributor, 20 years | Email, Salesforce, NetSuite, Jira and shared drives across several sites. | Scope that published ranges describe at their upper end; worth a call and several offers. |
| 15-person agency that closed this year | Slack, Drive and project tools, complete. | Below some size floors, but several buyers publish no minimum and take records from closed companies. |
