License My Company Data

Can our Yardi history be licensed to AI companies, and how do we get it out?

Updated October 25, 2026 · How we research

Possibly in part, but Yardi records combine tenant personal data, owner financials and confidential lease terms. Yardi's product help does not appear to be public, so export steps could not be verified; confirm them with your Yardi administrator or Yardi. Direct connections run through Yardi's interface program, which requires a data exchange agreement and a license fee.

What lives in Yardi, and why might buyers value it?

Yardi makes property management and real estate accounting software, including Voyager for larger portfolios and Breeze for smaller ones. Depending on the product and modules, it holds leases, resident and tenant records, property accounting, budgets, work orders, vendor payments, commercial lease terms and resident portal activity.

Buyers building tools for real estate may value long maintenance histories, leasing workflows and the notes staff write when something goes wrong. Commercial portfolios add lease abstracts and charge reconciliations, which are useful but commercially sensitive.

Usually in scope

  • Work conversations about operations
  • Tickets, tasks and project histories
  • Process documents and SOPs
  • Orders, invoices and workflow records, de-identified
  • Code repositories you own outright

Commonly left out

  • HR, payroll and personnel files
  • Board, legal and M&A material
  • Direct messages and private channels
  • Data you hold for customers under contract
  • Health, financial-account or other regulated personal data
You set the scope in writing: which systems, which dates, and what is excluded. Check customer contracts and privacy duties with your lawyer.

How does a Yardi export work?

This could not be confirmed from Yardi's own public pages. No public Yardi article on exporting from Voyager or Breeze was found for this page; Yardi's product help appears to be available to clients only.

Yardi's interfaces page also lists add-on products called Data Connect and Replicate but does not describe them, so ask Yardi whether either is relevant to getting your data out. If your company has an internal Yardi administrator, start there. Ask which reports can be exported to a spreadsheet, whether a bulk historical extract is possible for the properties and years in scope, who must run it, and whether Yardi charges for it. Get the answer in writing before agreeing a scope with a buyer.

Can a buyer connect to Yardi directly?

If a buyer wants a live connection rather than files, note that as of October 2026, Yardi's interface partner page describes a formal process rather than open access:

  • Partners pay an annual license fee per interface, sometimes priced per transaction.
  • Partners sign a separate Data Exchange Agreement with Yardi for each interface type.
  • The Standard Interface Partnership asks that a partner company be at least two years old with at least three active Voyager clients.
  • New interfaces are tested with a pilot client before general release.

What does that mean for a licensing deal?

A buyer that is not already a Yardi interface partner likely cannot connect without going through Yardi. Ask any buyer proposing a connection whether it has a Yardi agreement covering the data it wants, and whether Yardi's terms allow the use you are discussing. If not, a one-time file export run by your own staff is usually the more realistic route.

What should stay out?

  • Resident, tenant and applicant names, contact details and Social Security numbers.
  • Screening reports, income documents and payment histories tied to individuals.
  • Commercial lease economics, such as rents, concessions and renewal terms, unless the tenant's lease allows disclosure.
  • Owner and investor financial statements.
  • Notes that mention disability, family status, health or other sensitive traits.
  • Vendor banking and tax details.

What rights questions apply to Yardi data?

Three sets of terms usually matter: your Yardi license, your management or investment agreements with owners, and your leases. Commercial leases often contain confidentiality clauses, and management agreements may say records belong to the owner. Resident data adds privacy duties. See our guide on who owns the data, and have your lawyer review the contracts.

Where should a Yardi user start?

Map which entities and properties sit in your Yardi database, and which owner agreements govern each. Then ask your administrator or Yardi what can be exported. Work order histories with personal details removed are often the simplest starting point; see our property management page.

Common questions

Can we find Yardi export instructions online?

No public Yardi export article was found for this page. Ask your Yardi administrator or Yardi support.

Can a buyer connect to Voyager directly?

Yardi describes an interface program with license fees and a Data Exchange Agreement per interface type. Ask whether the buyer has one.

Are commercial leases licensable?

Often not without the tenant's agreement, since many commercial leases include confidentiality terms. Check with your lawyer.

Does it matter whether we own the buildings?

Yes. If you manage for others, the owner may control the records under your management agreement.
