How to apply to pre.dev
A program that values private Git repositories and licenses chosen ones, non-exclusively, to AI labs training coding models. You apply on pre.dev's own site. Below: who qualifies, what to prepare, and how its process works, from its own pages as of 2026-10-25.
Before you apply
- Check you meet pre.dev's published rules: no minimum published; accepts operating, closing, closed companies.
- List your systems, years of history and who can export each one. The data inventory worksheet helps.
- Confirm the records are yours to license and note what must stay out (HR, legal, customer data held under contract, regulated data).
- Decide in advance whether you would accept an exclusive license, and for how long.

What pre.dev takes
- private code repositories
- Git commit history
pre.dev's process
- Choose an individual or company account
- Connect a Git account
- Pick the repos you are willing to license
- Receive a value and grade per repo
- Sign one agreement; later deals pay under it
How it pays
per-sale, pre.dev shows per-repo payouts and per-token rates; it says one repo can pay more than once under the same agreement. Payment timing: Net 15 after funds land
Questions to ask before you sign
- Who signs the agreement with us, and in which state is that company registered?
- When exactly are we paid, and what has to happen first?
- Is the license exclusive? For how long, and for which uses?
- Who de-identifies the records, where, and can we review a sample of the result?
- What happens to the copy when the license ends?
